Consulting
I am currently employed full-time and then some, so am not currently offering consulting services. However, when this is not the case, and subject to any preexisting commitments, I am available to consult with businesses on the topics below. I generally work on an hourly basis, but will enter into a fixed-fee arrangement for larger projects. If your internal projects are languishing because all of your employees have "day jobs", or if your business is outstripping its existing processes, then I can help. Most of my experience has been in consultative and project-based environments, so I like to focus my efforts in these areas.
Operations Consulting
Organizations, particularly small and growing concerns, usually run lean — they employ few managers, and these managers are often "working foremen". Therefore, when a gap in business processes is perceived, finding someone to fix the gap can be an exercise in its own right. I offer three services in this regard: gap analyses, action plans, and process/tool creation. My core skills are operational finance and project management, and I've also drafted business and marketing plans. If you'd like a fresh perspective on your business, contact me.
Project Management
Are you entering into a large project with a client? Does the client need to see professional project management to feel comfortable? Are you concerned about the level of internal project management skill you can bring to bear? If you answered "yes" to all three questions, then I can help. When hired, I'll create the formal project schedules and project plans to help initiate the project and provide the "wow" factor, then track with the project throughout with bursts of activity as required at each major milestone. Alternately, I can provide your team a crash course in practical project management, including basic MS Project instruction.
Decision Support Tools
I have over ten years of experience in the creation of decision support tools that make your numbers "come alive". I focus on visual and highly intuitive dashboards, most often created in MS Excel. I've created these tools for financial, project, and resource management needs. If basic spreadsheets and QuickBook reports aren't providing the insights you need, I can help.
